From Scotland to South Australia: Insane Magic Hits Adelaide Fringe!
We did it! We packed up our questionable chaos, card tricks, and illusions and took "1 Hour Of Insane Magic" all the way to the Adelaide Fringe Festival - and what a ride it was.
This was our first ever year performing in Adelaide, and while it definitely came with a steep learning curve (hello, 40-degree tech runs and flyering with sunburn), it was an absolute blast from start to finish.
🎩 New City, New Cast Member
Due to some scheduling magic of his own (namely: being a fantastic dad), Elliot wasn’t able to join us this time (turns out two kids at home > three guys doing tricks in a tent!). But stepping into the chaos with us was the brilliant Tom Bolton, a magician with serious chops and exactly the kind of boundless energy our show thrives on.
Tom smashed it. The crowds loved him. He brought new flavour to the show, and despite only a handful of rehearsals together, we made it work—with plenty of laughs and not too many hiccups!
🎪 Umbrella Revolution = Dream Venue
We were lucky enough to perform in the Umbrella Revolution, right in the heart of the Garden of Unearthly Delights (which is basically a dreamland of circus tents, glowing lanterns, food stalls, and world-class performers). The venue staff were an absolute dream—professional, fun, supportive, and the kind of people who could sort a lighting cue or a passed out audience member with equal skill and professionalism!
Massive shoutout to the whole Umbrella crew for keeping the wheels turning and the magic flowing.
🌟 Fringe Friends & Show Highlights
One of the best things about Fringe life—whether it’s Edinburgh or Adelaide - is the community. We got to see so many incredible shows, catch up with pals from past Fringes, and make some brand new friends along the way.
Special love goes to Sawdust and Charlie Caper, two absolutely jaw-dropping acts that also performed in our venue. If you missed them, you missed out.
From random street chats to midnight show swaps, it was a month packed with connections, creativity, and a whole lot of shared sweat and sunscreen.
😅 Fringe Reality Check
I won’t lie—Adelaide Fringe was harder work than Edinburgh. New country, new systems, new flyering tactics. But we hustled. We adapted. We learned a lot. And by the end of it? We were exhausted, sun-drenched, and completely thrilled we’d done it.
🪄 What’s Next?
This experience reminded us why we love doing this show so much—and confirmed just how far it can go. So yes, "1 Hour Of Insane Magic" will absolutely be back at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2025, bigger, bolder, and probably still held together with a smile and some solid friendships!
